An Evening with Gayle Brandeis, Wendy J. Fox, and June Sylvester Saraceno

Three wonderful authors--Gayle Brandeis, Wendy J. Fox, and June Sylvester Saraceno-- will present their new books on Thursday, February 20th, at 6:30pm. Join us as they read from and discuss their respective works, Many Restless Concerns, If the Ice Had Held, and Feral, North Carolina, 1965.

Gayle Brandeis is the author, most recently, of the novel in poems, Many Restless Concerns: The Victims of Countess Bathory Speak in Chorus (A Testimony). Other books include the memoir The Art of Misdiagnosis, the poetry collection The Selfless Bliss of the Body, the craft book, Fruitflesh: Seeds of Inspiration for Women Who Write, and several novels including The Book of Dead Birds, which won the Bellwether Prize for Fiction of Social Engagement judged by Barbara Kingsolver, Toni Morrison, and Maxine Hong Kingston. Her poetry, essays, and short fiction have been widely published in places such as The New York Times, The Washington Post, O (The Oprah Magazine), The Rumpus, Salon, Longreads, and more, and have received numerous honors, including a Barbara Mandigo Kelly Peace Poetry Award, Notable Essays in Best American Essays 2016 and 2019, the QPB/Story Magazine Short Story Award and the 2018 Multi Genre Maverick Writer Award. She teaches at Sierra Nevada College and Antioch University Los Angeles.

 

Wendy J. Fox is the author of The Seven Stages of Anger and Other StoriesThe Pull of It, and the recent novel If the Ice Had Held. June Sylvester Saraceno is the author of Feral, North Carolina, 1965, her debut novel, listed in BuzzFeed as one of “18 Must Read Books from Indie Presses.” Her poetry collections include The Girl From Yesterday, of Dirt and Tar, and Altars of Ordinary Light, as well as a chapbook of prose poems, Mean Girl Trips.
