Books and Laughter: A Bemused Conversation with Steven Nightingale

Join author Steven Nightingale for a night of readings from a promiscuous variety of sources: the Nasrudin tradition and the Darwin Awards; wild, obscure comic novels, found literary art, and contemporary satiric writing; idiosyncratic stories, jokes, remarks, one-liners, and the plain hysterical facts of daily life in these times.

Steven Nightingale is the author of ten books: two novels, six books of sonnets, a long essay on the city of Granada, Spain, and most recently a book of lyrical short stories about women, The Hot Climate of Promises and Grace. His interests include the medieval art of Spain and Italy, the wilderness of the American West, astronomy, venture capital, and Emily Dickinson, whom he loves. Chief among his pleasures is teaching by invitation in schools and universities in Nevada and California.

He is a graduate of Stanford University, and divides his time between the Santa Cruz mountains of California, his beloved home state of Nevada, and the beautiful Albayzin, a barrio in Granada, Spain. You can find him at
