Annual Poetry Month Reading Series: Gailmarie Pahmeier, Tom Meschery, Logan Seidl, and Isabelle Lang

For the 20th year, Sundance is pleased to host a series of readings in honor of National Poetry Month. Our featured poets on Thursday, April 18th will be Gailmarie Pahmeier, Tom Meschery, Logan Seidl, and Isabelle Lang.

Gailmarie Pahmeier is the author of five collections of poetry and teaches in the MFA Programs at UNR and SNC. She served as Reno’s first Poet Laureate and inducted into the Nevada Writers Hall of Fame in 2016. As a recent recipient of the Nevada Arts Council’s Major Project Fellowship, she’s at work on a manuscript about the voices she hears in Nevada State Parks. This project has inspired the dance company, Collateral&Co, to choreograph a new work, Dust Horizon, which will premiere at the Nevada Museum of Art in late April.  .

Tom Meschery, a retired NBA basketball player (Golden State Warriors and Seattle Sonics) and high school English teacher (Reno High School) earned his MFA in poetry from the Iowa Writers Workshop. He has published three collections of poems; Nothing You Lose Can Be ReplacedSome Men, and Sweat: New and Selected Poems About Sports, all published by Black Rock Press. He lives with his wife, artist, Melanie Marchant in Sacramento, California where he continues to write and cook gourmet meals for his wife. 

Logan Seidl is a third-year MFA student at the University of Nevada, Reno. His poetry has been published in Crab Creek Review, The Meadow, Vinyl Poetry, and elsewhere.

Isabelle Lang is a transplant from the deep south to the high desert. Originally from Louisiana, she received her BA and MA in English Literature from Mississippi State University, and is currently a second-year poet in the MFA program at UNR. Her work has appeared or is forthcoming in Beecher’s MagazineRat’s Ass Review, and The Meadow
