Sundance Books and Music welcomes YA authors Shannon Messenger, Debra Driza, Amy Tintera, and Kasie West for a reading and book signing event on Wednesday, August 13, from 6:30 - 8 pm.
Shannon Messenger graduated from the USC School of Cinematic Arts where she learned--among other things--that she liked watching movies much better than making them. She also regularly eats cupcakes for breakfast, sleeps with a bright blue stuffed elephant named Ella, and occasionally gets caught talking to imaginary people. So it was only natural for her to write stories for children. She's the author of the middle grade series, KEEPER OF THE LOST CITIES, and the SKY FALL series for young adults. Her latest novel is LET THE STORM BREAK (see below). She lives in Southern California with her husband and an embarrassing number of cats. Find her online at shannonmessenger.com.
Debra Driza is a member of the teen lit blogging groups the Bookanistas and The League of Extraordinary Writers, and a former practicing physical therapist who discovered tormenting her characters was infinitely more enjoyable. These days you can find her at home in California, adding random colors to her hair and wrangling one husband, two kids, and an assortment of Rhodesian Ridgebacks (most of them naughty). MILA 2.0 is her first YA novel (see below) in a planned trilogy from Katherine Tegen Books/HarperCollins. It's currently in development with Shondaland production company (Grey's Anatomy) to become a TV series for ABC.
Amy Tintera writes novels for young adults. She grew up in Austin, Texas and graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in journalism. After receiving a masters in film at Emerson College she moved to Los Angeles, where she promptly discovered she didn’t enjoy working in the film industry, and went back to her first love, writing. REBOOT and REBEL (see below) are published by HarperCollins/HarperTeen. Film rights have been optioned by Fox, and the books have sold in ten countries. She is represented by Emmanuelle Morgen at Stonesong.
Kasie West - A stay-at-home mom of four children, three of them girls, ranging in age from four to 12, Kasie West hears lots of melodramatic versions of large-than-life events. She graduated with a BA in liberal studies, with a strong focus on linguistics and psychology, from Fresno State University. She lives in Fresno, CA. Her latest novel is ON THE FENCE (see below).
