Activating Democracy: I Wish to Say
As part of Nevada Humanities' Salon series, join us for "Activating Democracy: I Wish to Say" on Friday, July 21, at 6pm, at Sundance Books and Music. The evening will feature artist Sheryl Oring in conversation with Alison Gaulden, Internship Coordinator and Lecturer at the Reynolds School of Journalism at the University of Nevada, Reno. The discussion will center around Oring's decade-long project entitled "I Wish to Say", whereby the artist invites passersby to dictate postcard messages to the United States President. Audience members will be invited to participate in a question and answer session followed by a reception.
This program is made possible with support from the Charles Redd Center for Western Studies and the National Endowment for the Humanities.
And be sure to participate in the public performance on July 20 and July 22, 2017, from 4 – 7 p.m. at City Plaza, 10 North Virginia Street, in Reno, as part of the City of Reno's Artown festival. Activate your own civic engagement and dictate a postcard to the President!
